The summer campaign for Mango is now available, and it’s absolutely stunning, as if we’d expect anything less!
Also, Penélope Cruz was in Venice, Italy this weekend for her friend Salma Hayek‘s wedding. You can read a little about the event here.
I wanted to let all of our loyal visitors know that this site will likely not be updated a whole lot until the end of April. I am going to be traveling and my internet access will be very minimal. But I will try and update the site as much as I can, if possible. Also this regards e-mail replies and comments approval. If the hiatus will last longer than a month, I will be sure to update on it again. But rest assured, I will update as soon as I can!
Meanwhile, check out here for the latest news and here for the newest images.
We’re really being spoiled! Miss Cruz is also featured on the cover of Vanity Fair Spain. She is photographed with her beloved Pedro Almodóvar and the photoshoot is just stunning.
Penélope Cruz graces the April issue of Vogue España. She looks amazing in a gorgeous new shoot!
“I’ve been obsessed with his cinema since I was a little girl, especially now, because now it is also a personal experience. He is a very important person in my life, not only in my career but also he is one of my best friends. If someone told me that I can only choose one director to work with for the rest of my life. It’s absolutely clear for me that it would be with him.” – Penélope Cruz
Yesterday was the world premiere for Broken Embraces. It took place in Madrid, Spain and the cast was there, Pe included. She looked gorgeous in a black shimmer dress. Also a few days ago she attended a Barcelona press conference, and we now have some photos. Broken Embraces comes out this tomorrow in Spain.
In the first of many covers come, Cruz graces the cover of DS Magazine N°5 (France). It is a re-print photoshoot but it’s one of my favorites.
Los abrazos rotos aka Broken Embraces is opening on Spain the 18th of March and there has begun some promotion for the movie including that of new stills, a new trailer and a short film La Concejala antropófaga, Almodóvar explains the short is a spin off of a small character from Broken Embraces. Furthermore TVE debuted exclusive footage for the upcoming movie on Informe Semanal (Spanish equivalent show for CBS 60 minutes) recently. You can view a little preview of what was shown and captures of that in the gallery. Also view the trailer after the break too. Lastly thanks to Riikka for the caps from La Concejala antropófaga.

Los abros rotos has a feature inside the March 9 edition of Fotogramas, a Spanish magazine. Thanks to the forum Celebutopia we have scans of Penélope’s pages. You can see Miss Cruz looking stunning in some stills and behind the scenes. I’m very excited for this movie!
Four posters for Los Abrazos rotos have been released! They are stunning and very Pedro Almodóvar! Speaking of the movie, there is lots of speculation right now that the movie will see it’s premiere at this year’s Cannes. Lastly thanks to Ivan and Andrew for letting us know where to find the film’s posters.
The Oscar winner with arguably the most impressive list of upcoming projects has to be Best Supporting Actress winner Penelope Cruz. Cruz has two projects that also seem to have Oscar written all over them.
The first will be the newest film from Pedro Almodovar, the highly anticipated Broken Embraces. The last time Pedro and Penelope got together, they made the incredible Volver, which netted Cruz a nomination and worldwide acclaim. Very little is known about the plot of Embraces but it will reportedly open soon in Europe. American audiences will have to wait until November 6th, 2009.
Just a few weeks after Broken Embraces opens stateside, Penelope Cruz will be seen again in Nine, the highly anticipated musical from Chicago director Rob Marshall. With nineteen Oscar nominations and nine wins with only two movies (his sophomore film was Memoirs of a Geisha), anything Rob Marshall has in production has to be taken very seriously and this one has Oscar potential written all over it.
Nine co-stars an amazing six Oscar winners. Daniel Day-Lewis plays the lead with Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Judi Dench, Sophia Loren, and Penelope Cruz in supporting roles. Kate Hudson and Fergie also play supporting parts in the adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical of the same name based on Federico Fellini’s autobiographical 8 1/2.

Firstly, you regular visitors will notice we have a new layout. I wanted to put up something special to celebrate our beloved Penélope’s monumental moment. I hope you like it!
Finally now I have gotten all the pictures of Miss Cruz from the Oscars uploaded. These include pictures from the red carpet, the show, a portrait session with past and present winners, and the after party (where she changed dresses). It’s a whopping 400+ pictures so enjoy!
Penélope looked so elegant and gorgeous! Her dress is vintage Pierre Balmain Haute Couture with a print meant to look like lace. Her jewels were from Chopard.
Furthermore today on Oprah was the annual after Oscars episode. Penélope was interviewed. That clip will hopefully be up tomorrow, in addition to show and red carpet interview caps! Continue returning to Penelope-Cruz.org for many more massive updates!
I have added pictures from the Independent Spirit Awards, view them below. Penélope’s dress is by Azzedine Alaia. Once again congrats to Pe for her Supporting Actress win for Vicky Cristina Barcelona!
The teaser trailer for celebrated and profilic director Pedro Almodóvar and Penélope Cruz’s newest collaboration, Los abrazos rotos aka Broken Embraces has hit the web! Watch it here or after the cut. While the teaser doesn’t reveal much, it’s mystery and stunning imagery will haunt and interest you for sure. LQ Screencaptures follow accordingly. (Will replace if a better version is released.)
Exact details on the film are still scant but Almodóvar has stated that the film will resemble a 1950s American film noir but will be set in the 1990s.
“Penélope’s character in my film lives two very different, almost opposing, lives, that naturally must be characterized, among other things, by very different hairstyles. In the first characterisation, Penélope is brunette, serious, hurt, pursued by fatality, a fighter with no luck, a fallen angel. A woman taken from a 50s thriller and transferred to the 90s. In the other facet of the character, she appears as blonde, light, pop, naïve, outrageous, exultant.” – Pedro Almodóvar
The film will be released in March of this year in Spain and will have limited release in the U.S. starting in November of 2009.
