The news was published here Tuesday by the daily Avaz, which said the famous actress would remain two months in the Bosnian capital, and that preparations for the filming in Sarajevo are already underway.
The screen drama will feature Cruz as Gemma, a single mother who accompanies her teenage son to present-day Sarajevo, where his dad died while still a young man during the Bosnian conflict.

Cruz said in 2010 that her role in the new Castellitto film would be one of the most important of her life – she previously worked with the director in the 2004 film Non Ti Muovere (Don’t Move).
The Spanish actress, winner of an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for 2009′s Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” was also named Best European Actress in the Jameson People’s Choice Awards for her part in Non Ti Muovere, which also won her the David di Donatello Prize for Best Actress, the latter being Italy’s answer to the Oscars.
Both Non Ti Muovere and Venuto al Mondo are adaptations of novels by Margaret Mazzantini, Castellitto’s wife and one of Italy’s most popular writers.
