Madrid native Penélope Cruz picked a Goya for her role as supporting actress in the English-language Vicky Cristina Barcelona, the same role that earned her an Oscar nomination. The Goya Awards are known as “The Spanish Oscars”.

“I’ve always been a fan of Woody Allen, and that my peers honor me for a Spanish film made by him makes me very happy,” she said. “Thanks, Woody, for believing in me.”

Miss Cruz was ravishing in a floor length lace gown. Her sister Monica was also at the event.
