Update #1) Penélope Cruz was just spotted on the red carpet wearing a red dress and an up-do! She was briefly shown on E!’s Live Coverage.

Update #2) Penélope Cruz stood next to her Supporting Actress nominees for the official red carpet on ABC before the big show, where she was gracious and even said even though she’s been there multiple times, she didn’t feel like a vet, that it felt like the first time and when she didn’t speak any English. She also said she is “so happy and proud to be in company of these amazing actresses.”

Update #4) Cruz just presented Best Actor in a Supporting Role to Christoph Waltz for Inglourious Basterds. He opened his speech with “Penélope Cruz and an Oscar equals a Bingo.”

Update #5) Penélope is wearing a ravishing red Donna Karan couture duchess satin pleated gown, Chopard jewels and soft updo.

2002 Oscar winner Halle Berry (Actress in a Leading Role, Monster’s Ball) will interview last year’s Supporting Actress winner, Penélope Cruz, (Vicky Cristina Barcelona), who this year is a Supporting Actress nominee for her role in Nine.

It’s for The Oprah Winfrey Oscar Special, which airs tonight (March 3, 2010) at 10-11PM ET on ABC.

I hope you all got a chance to see the 20/20 special, from last night, there was some adorable footage of Pe shown. I haven’t been able to find it online yet though, but fingers crossed someone will upload a video somewhere. If so, let me know!

20/20 Before They Were Famous

Penélope Cruz will be featured in tonight’s edition of 20/20 which is an Oscar special about stars before they were famous. They will show rare and never before seen videos and photos of the 2010 Academy Award nominees as well as interviews. Sorry for such short notice, I only just saw it on the TV now. The Hollywood Reporter announced that last year’s three Oscar winners – Sean Penn, Kate Winslet and Penélope Cruz – have all booked return visits to the 82nd Annual Academy Awards, where they will appear as presenters! Can’t wait and you can be sure Penelope-Cruz.org will follow the big night with tons of live coverage!

Cruz, who took home the supporting actress Oscar last year for Vicky Cristina Barcelona, has an added reason to show up since she’s nominated this year in the same category for playing the seductive mistress in Nine.

The Oscars will be broadcast live by ABC from the Kodak Theater in Hollywood on March 7.

67th Annual Golden Globe Awards – Updates

Here is your first look at Miss Cruz on the red carpet of the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards! She looks stunning in a black dress.

Update 1) – Although not really a surprise, Penélope Cruz did not win Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture. That honor went to Mo’nique for her outstanding work in Precious. Nicole Kidman presented the award and Pe blew her a kiss to the stage.

Update 2) Kate Hudson presented the clip for Nine‘s entry in the Best Movie Musical or Comedy category.

Update 3) Several shots of Penélope in the audience, like during Meryl Streep’s acceptance speech.

Update 4) The award for foreign language film went to The White Ribbon and not Broken Embraces. Sophia Loren presented.

Update 5) Reese Witherspoon presented the award for Best Comedy/Musical to The Hangover, unfortunately Nine lost. Lots of shots of Miss Cruz shown in the audience again!

Update 6) Celebrities signed a Chrysler 300 Eco Style car for Stars for a Cause, view images of Pe here for now. I will add them to the site shortly. This Chrysler 300 is one of seven in existence.

• Nine‘s song “Cinema Italiano” lost to “The Weary Kind” (Theme From Crazy Heart).

• Stars are wearing ribbon pins on their outfits in support of Haiti.

• Pe gave a red carpet interview with E! News and when Ryan Seacrest pointed out she was holding her own umbrella, she joked, “I knew I would be holding my own umbrella. I’m not like Puff Daddy [Diddy], I hold my own umbrella.” She of course she was referring to Diddy’s infamous personal assistant and “Umbrella Holder,” Farnsworth Bentley.

Firstly, you regular visitors will notice we have a new layout. I wanted to put up something special to celebrate our beloved Penélope’s monumental moment. I hope you like it!

Finally now I have gotten all the pictures of Miss Cruz from the Oscars uploaded. These include pictures from the red carpet, the show, a portrait session with past and present winners, and the after party (where she changed dresses). It’s a whopping 400+ pictures so enjoy!

Penélope looked so elegant and gorgeous! Her dress is vintage Pierre Balmain Haute Couture with a print meant to look like lace. Her jewels were from Chopard.

With Oscar weekend quickly approaching, AMC debuts its new primetime special, Storymakers.

Premiering at 7 p.m. Friday (Feb 13), the special, hosted by entertainment industry veterans Peter Bart and Peter Guber, features an intimate gathering of A-list actors in a round-table discussion about entertainment headlines. Topics range from Oscars, summer movies and holiday films to the actor’s craft, guests’ current projects and the general state of the entertainment industry.

Penélope Cruz is featured in the NY Times Great Performances portfolio. She’s being honored with a feature for her work in Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Click on the link to listen to the commentary about her shoot.

For the issue, actors were photographed with little make-up and hairstyling and with candid imagery. Cruz was photographed on the set of Nine, she’s seen rehearsing a dance number for the very first time! She’s also snapped back in New York before what would become her Gotham Award win. BAFTA Longlist Nomination

Pe is nominated in the BAFTA longlist twice for leading actress for Elegy and supporting for Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Furthermore Vicky is up for original screenplay, Hall & Johansson for leading actress, Bardem for leading actor.

The BAFTA longlists include 15 contenders in each category, from which the five nominees will be chosen in the second round of voting. Once the nominees are finalized, the whole membership votes again to decide the best film, four acting prizes and film not in the English language. In all remaining categories, the members of each chapter (or jury) determine the vote.

The awards will take place Feb. 8 at London’s Royal Opera House.
