The teaser trailer for celebrated and profilic director Pedro Almodóvar and Penélope Cruz’s newest collaboration, Los abrazos rotos aka Broken Embraces has hit the web! Watch it here or after the cut. While the teaser doesn’t reveal much, it’s mystery and stunning imagery will haunt and interest you for sure. LQ Screencaptures follow accordingly. (Will replace if a better version is released.)
Exact details on the film are still scant but Almodóvar has stated that the film will resemble a 1950s American film noir but will be set in the 1990s.
“Penélope’s character in my film lives two very different, almost opposing, lives, that naturally must be characterized, among other things, by very different hairstyles. In the first characterisation, Penélope is brunette, serious, hurt, pursued by fatality, a fighter with no luck, a fallen angel. A woman taken from a 50s thriller and transferred to the 90s. In the other facet of the character, she appears as blonde, light, pop, naïve, outrageous, exultant.” – Pedro Almodóvar
The film will be released in March of this year in Spain and will have limited release in the U.S. starting in November of 2009.
